How do I bookmark a story?
Open any story and tap the bookmark icon in the top-right toolbar. Bookmarked stories appear in the "Saved" tab. To remove a bookmark, tap the filled bookmark icon again.
How do I change the theme?
Go to Settings and tap "Theme." You can choose from System (follows your device), Light, Dark, Sepia, or Black (for OLED displays).
How do I change the font size?
Go to Settings and tap "Font Size." You can choose from Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large. A preview is shown for each option.
How do I block a user?
Long-press (or right-click) on any comment to see the context menu, then tap "Block." Blocked users' comments will be hidden from all discussions. You can manage blocked users in Settings under "Blocked Users."
How do I report a comment?
Long-press on a comment and select "Report Comment" from the context menu. This will open the Hacker News website where you can flag the comment directly.
How do I search for stories?
Tap the "Search" tab at the bottom of the app. Type your query and use the filter button to sort by relevance or date, and filter by time range.
How do I share a story?
Open a story and tap the share icon in the toolbar. You can also tap the "..." menu to share just the article link or the Hacker News discussion link separately.
Where is my data stored?
All your data (bookmarks, read history, settings, blocked users) is stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent to any server. See our Privacy Policy for details.
The app shows "No Connection" — what do I do?
HNPulse requires an internet connection to load stories and comments from Hacker News. Check your Wi-Fi or cellular connection. Previously cached content may still be available offline.
